My Dad loves midnight snacks and these are some of his favorite! They are from a Hershey's 1934 cookbook and my mom has been making them since she was my age. They're the best! At least my dad thinks so. :) These are great for last minute desserts as they are quick and easy.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
How-to:
1. Preheat oven to 350˚
2. Cream together butter, sugars and vanilla with hand mixer until fluffy.
3. Add eggs and beat well.
4. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt and mix gently with a spoon.
5. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts, if using.
6. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet.
7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are slightly browning.
